The owner of a ramen restaurant in Japan is stopping customers using their phones while eating.

Kota Kai is causing a stir in Tokyo after announcing the decision.

The dining establishment’s owner says too many people were scrolling and not eating, causing their ramen to go cold.

The restaurant specialises in Hakata ramen, which is designed to be eaten immediately.

No signs are in place to enforce the rule.

Kai says he verbally tells customers to stop using their phone if its busy in the restaurant and seats are full.
