President Biden says NATO stands strong as China, Russia showcase strengthening ties

The trip to Eastern Europe marks the one-year-anniversary of Russia’s invasion of Ukraine

The Pentagon is concerned over the increasing relationship between China and Russia.

On Wednesday, China’s top diplomat was in Russia laying the groundwork for a visit by President Xi Jinping. The meeting comes on the same day U.S. President Joe Biden traveled to Eastern Europe to show that NATO stands strong.

“Article 5 is a sacred commitment the United States has made. We will defend literally every inch of NATO, every inch of NATO and this is an important moment,” Biden told leaders of the Bucharest Nine in Warsaw, Poland.

In addition to marking the one-year anniversary of Russia’s invasion of Ukraine the aim of the President’s trip was to show the strength of NATO—as China and Russia peers to be teaming up in Ukraine.

Russian officials say they welcome China’s help in Ukraine as the two powers met on Wednesday. Following the meeting Beijing and Moscow declared a no limits partnership.
The meeting comes as China’s top diplomat is ignoring warnings from the United States’ top diplomat.

“Secretary Blinken has had a very candid discussion in Munich with his counterpart Mr. Wang Yi and made clear to him that there would be ramifications and consequences,” said John Kirby, the National Security Council Coordinator for Strategic Communications.

President Biden is jetting back to Washington D.C. leaving behind a new nexus of evil forming abroad as China and Russia are showcasing their close ties on the world stage.

With Threads averaging 28 million daily active users compared to X’s 22 million, Meta’s ambitions to reach a billion users seem within reach despite a slowdown in growth. While X still boasts 550 million monthly active users globally, Threads’ focus on user experience and avoidance of real-time and political content could position it as a formidable competitor moving forward.
