New York Attorney-General launches criminal investigation into Trump

The New York attorney general’s office has confirmed it has now opened a criminal investigation into former President Donald Trump’s company. Investigations first started as a civil probe but now this will go far beyond that.

Attorney General Letitia James has been investigating whether the Trump Organisation falsely reported property values in an attempt to secure loans and benefit financially by obtaining economic and tax benefits.

“We have informed the Trump Organization that our investigation into the organization is no longer purely civil in nature,”
Fabien Levy, a spokesman for the attorney general’s office, said in a statement.

Attorney’s confirmed there is right now an active investigation into the Trump Organisation, together with Manhattan District Attorney’s.

Donald Trump is yet to release a statement on the matter.
