Tourists cop full force after breaching COVID laws in Indonesia

Indonesia has ordered four foreign tourists to leave the resort island of Bali after violating health protocols

One of those to depart is a Russian national who tested positive for the coronavirus upon her arrival in Bali and was recaptured that night after she escaped mandatory isolation at an appointed hotel.

Three others were defying mask mandates.

Following the recent alarming surge of COVID-19 cases in Indonesia, the Indonesian Government took an immediate step in suppressing the numbers and attempting to flatten the curve by imposing an emergency Implementation of Limitations on Community Activities.

Indonesia’s recent surge prompts lockdown

Such an increase in COVID-19 cases in Indonesia is also caused by new variants faced by many other countries as well.
 

The surge prompted new lockdown measures last month, particularly on Java, Indonesia’s most populated island, and on the tourist island of Bali.

Bali has recorded more than 55,300 cases of COVID-19 since the pandemic began, including 1,634 deaths.
