Fifty thousand people walked across the Sydney Harbour Bridge in a joyful march for equality.

For more than two weeks, over 300 events have spread a message of love and acceptance throughout the city to mark Sydney World Pride.

The historic ‘Pride March’ was the final hurrah of the 17-day festival.

Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese joined the procession, marking the first march to ever be held in the southern hemisphere.

He says the occasion is about bringing together the Australian community and celebrating diversity.

The march is a statement of solidarity with LGBTQIA+ people around the world and celebrates the 45th anniversary of the Sydney Gay and Lesbian Mardi Gras.

However, it also acknowledges that others in the Asia-Pacific are still fighting for equality and offers them strength and support.
