Russia marks Nazi Day

Russia will mark the anniversary of the day Nazi Germany’s forces invaded the Soviet Union 1941.

President Vladimir Putin is due to lay flowers to honour the dead.

This comes as neighbouring Ukraine prepares to enter into its fifth month of conflict at the hands of Russian forces.

Russia maintains the conflict is not an invasion, but rather, a ‘special military operation’.

Ukraine’s President Zelensky says fighting in the eastern Luhansk region remains tough.

“That is really the toughest spot. The occupiers are also pressing strongly in the direction of Donetsk.”

The President adds the Russian Army is putting “serious pressures” on the area, which is leading to a shift in military strategy.
