“You must pay for all these crimes”- sexual abuse victims demand for change

Victims of abuse at the hands of the French Catholic Church are calling for immediate action following a wide-sweeping inquiry

The inquiry has found that since 1950, the clergy within the organisation have sexually abused more than 200,000 children, most of whom were boys

In a statement, Pope Francis expressed the pain he felt towards the revelations… with those impacted demanding compensation.

The founder of a former victims’ association says there has been “a betrayal of trust, a betrayal of morale and a betrayal of children”… and is calling for the Church to pay for all of these crimes.

Meanwhile, another survivor says “it’s not simply a couple of thousand euros – It’s about a real compensation based on the suffering of each person.”

The inquiry was commissioned by the French Catholic Church back in 2018… spending two and a half years speaking to witnesses and victims and analysing both police and Church recoes.

It’s believed that many of the cases will be too old to prosecute under French legal requirements.
