Theranos founder seeks new trial after claims a key witness told her he regrets his testimony
Theranos founder, Elizabeth Holmes, has asked for a retrial after a key witness expressed doubts at her doorstep about his testimony.
This comes just weeks before Holmes was scheduled to be sentenced, and just eight months after she was convicted of fraud and conspiracy in the Silicon Valley’s most high profile trial.
Holmes’ request follows claims that a star witness had visited her home last month, saying he was losing sleep over his testimony.
According to Holmes’ court filing this week, the former Theranos lab director told Holmes and her partner that his testimony had been twisted by the prosecutors.
Holmes was found guilty of defrauding investors in the blood-testing startup she founded, which peaked at $9 billion valuation.
