Which extinct animal do scientists hope to bring back to life?

After being extinct for almost a century, scientists want to resurrect the Tasmanian Tiger, which once roamed the Australian bush.

The ambitious project will harness advances in genetics, ancient DNA retrieval and artificial reproduction, to bring back the animal.

The project is a collaboration between Colossal Biosciences and Harvard Medical School geneticist George Church.

The animal was hunted out of the Tasmanian bush in the 1800s, because it was believed they were killing livestock, with the last one dying in 1936.
