Google CEO wants employees to return to the office

As the pandemic begins to ease, Google is encouraging employees to return to working in the office.

In an email, the company’s CEO Sundai Pichai speaks about the benefits of working from an office and says staff should consider coming back in even if it is just a few days each week.

He says “for more than 20 years, employees have been coming in to solve interesting problems – in a cafe, around a whiteboard, or during a game of volleyball.”

Looking to the future, Google wants to see a workforce where 60% are office-based, 20% are in “new office locations” and 20% are working from home.

This comes as Twitter says it’s happy for employees to work from home “forever” if they so desire.
