Russia has started vaccinating animals against COVID-19.

Vets around the country have started rolling out the world’s first animal-specific jab. The Carnivak-Cov jab can provide up to six months immunity.

Dogs, cats and minks are among some of the species where infections have been recorded.

Minks are semi-aquatic animals that are farmed for their fur. But the species has become infected in some countries, which has led them to fall ill or completely die.

But scientists believe vaccinating animals is redundant because of the lack of evidence of animals spreading COVID-19 to humans. However, some evidence shows that minks have already passed the virus back to humans in a mutated form.

Earlier this week, the WHO’s Director-General, Dr. Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus denounced vaccine iniquity.
