US delays trading ban on Chinese-military linked securities

The Biden Administration has moved to delay a ban on new US investments in various Chinese companies, as officials try to make sense of the Trump-era policy.

This follows the US Treasury building this week announcing that investors have until June 11 to buy or sell shares of companies on the blacklist.

Up until that deadline, the White House is trying to work out how the China investment ban applies to subsidiaries.

In November 2020, Donald Trump issued an executive order that bans U-S investments in companies owned or controlled by the Chinese military.
