Unvaccinated travellers now allowed to enter Australia

From today unvaccinated travellers will be able to enter Australia, officially bringing an end to the days of strict border regulations

After two years, people arriving in the country will no longer need to declare their Covid vaccination status or obtain a travel exemption.

On Sunday, Home Affairs Minister Clare O’Neil said the changes are particularly great news for families coming home from school holidays.

It’s also welcome news for Australia’s tourism industry, which will no doubt benefit from an influx of tourists.

The government says removing the requirements will not only reduce airport delays, but will “encourage more visitors and skilled workers to choose Australia as a destination”.

It comes as officials debate whether or not a fourth Covid jab should be rolled out more widely to Australians, as case numbers continue to soar.
