A prominent United Nations Official has warned Russia’s Vladimir Putin against threats of Nuclear Weapons.

Rosemary DiCarlo, Under-Secretary-General for Political and Peacebuilding Affairs, told the security council that “the use of nuclear weapons is unacceptable under any circumstance.”

She continued by saying that “any threat or use of nuclear weapons is a clear violation of the principles of international law.”

This warning comes as tensions between Russia and the West continue to grow over the war in Ukraine.

Putin has been accused of violating international law by using nuclear threats to intimidate his opponents.

While it is unlikely that Putin would actually follow through on his threats, DiCarlo’s warning is a reminder that the use of nuclear weapons is a serious violation of international law.
