Nathan Spencer, director of the UK Real Estate Investment and Infrastructure Forum (UKREiiF), highlights the connection between community and the built environment.UKREiiF is a significant property and infrastructure event in the United Kingdom, bringing together government bodies, developers, investors, and consultants.

In five years, attendance surged from 4,000 to 16,500 at the latest conference in Leeds.

Fringe events draw an additional 10,000 visitors, resulting in a total participation of around 25,000 people.

The forum contributes between £25 million and £30 million to the local economy and has led to around £3 billion in projects, including a £400 million event space in Leeds.

Spencer’s commitment to community and regeneration originates from his working-class background and personal experiences after relocating to London.

The forum supports diversity by partnering with 70 to 80 organisations focused on inclusion and outreach.

Specific initiatives, such as LGBT walking tours, ensure development reflects diverse lived experiences.

Key investment “anchors” like sports venues and universities are crucial for attracting long-term funding.

Emerging sectors for investment include data centres, renewable energy, defense, and health technology.

UKREiiF plans to expand internationally, with a proposed forum in Australia, tentatively called “OzReiiF.”
