Senate Democrats have officially passed their sweeping inflation reduction package, with Vice President Kamala Harris confirming the vote

The long-awaited $740 billion tax, health care and climate change legislation was approved on Sunday afternoon after a full night and morning of renegotiations.

It will raise taxes on corporations, tackle climate change, lower prescription drug costs and reduce the nation’s deficit.

Many viewed the bill as dead in the water, but it was brought back to life when controversial Senator Joe Manchin and Majority Leader Chuck Schumer struck a deal.

Renamed the Inflation Reduction Act, Schumer says this is one of the defining legislative feats of this generation.
