U.S. airstrike kills a Kataib Hezbollah commander, amid ongoing conflict in the Middle East.

In a targeted military operation, a prominent commander of the Kataib Hezbollah militia was killed in Baghdad.

The US Department of Defense released a statement confirming the operation, citing intelligence reports that linked Kataib Hezbollah to recent attacks on US personnel in Iraq.

“(U.S.) forces conducted a unilateral strike in Iraq in response to the attacks on U.S. service members, killing a Kataib Hezbollah commander responsible for directly planning and participating in attacks on U.S. forces in the region,” a statement from the military said. The commander was not named.
