The majority of Trump’s fellow Republicans believe the case is politically motivated. The former president arrived in Miami on Monday to face federal criminal charges.

The front-runner for the Republican presidential nomination in 2024 will appear in a Miami federal court on Tuesday at 3 p.m. EDT (1900 GMT).

Trump has proclaimed his innocence and promised to keep running for the presidency in November 2024 even though he is accused of unlawfully holding U.S. national security documents.

As Trump celebrates his 77th birthday on Wednesday, he arrived in a private jet emblazoned with his name at 2:54 p.m. (1854 GMT).

A group of supporters gathered outside a nearby golf club where he was supposed to spend the night.

“I HOPE THE ENTIRE COUNTRY IS WATCHING WHAT THE RADICAL LEFT ARE DOING TO AMERICA,” he wrote on his Truth Social social-media platform before departing from New Jersey.

There has been no impact on Trump’s popularity among Republican voters due to his legal woes.

Trump continues to lead his rivals for the Republican presidential nomination by a wide margin, according to a Reuters/Ipsos poll released on Monday.

43% of self-identified Republicans chose Trump as their preferred candidate, compared to 22% choosing Florida Governor Ron DeSantis, Trump’s nearest rival. Before DeSantis entered the race, Trump led DeSantis 49% to 19%.

Biden has kept a distance from the case and declined to comment on it. Trump accuses Biden of orchestrating the federal case to undermine his campaign.
