Cook will remain at the company as chairman, overseeing a smooth transition while stepping back from day-to-day operations. John Ternus, Apple’s senior vice president of hardware engineering, will take over as CEO. A long-time Apple executive since 2001, Ternus has been central to the company’s hardware development and is known for his precision-driven approach to product design.
