In what is another bizarre turn of events, Sweden’s parliament has re-elected Magdalena Andersson to the role of PM just days after she sensationally quit.

Anderson is once again the first-ever female leader in the nation’s history, and intends to lead a minority government.

She resigned from the role of prime minister after her proposed budget was defeated and the coalition government she formed collapsed.

Anderson will take the reigns once again after meeting with Sweden’s King on Tuesday for the official swearing-in.

Sweden’s parliament voted 101 in favour of her, whilst 173 voted against and 75 abstained… with the country’s rules allowing an official to be chosen as long as the majority of lawmakers don’t vote against them.

Andersson’s appointment follows 33 previous leaders, all of whom were men.

Her Social Democrats party holds 100 seats in the 349-seat Parliament, meaning it will need to rely on the support of other members to pass legislation.
