Thai monks dismissed after drug tests

A small Buddhist temple in Thailand has been left without any monks after they were all dismissed for failing drug tests.

Four monks, including the abbot, tested positive for methamphetamine in the country’s northern provinces.

The monks have been sent to a health clinic to undergo a drug rehabilitation program.

The raid comes amid a campaign to crack down on drug trafficking.

Police administered urine tests on the monks earlier in the week, after being brought to the attention of authorities.

Locals are now concerned the temple cannot do any merit-making.
