Ten dead in Australian wedding bus crash

Ten people are dead and 21 are in hospital after a bus crashed at a roundabout over the Hunter Expressway in Greta, NSW, in the Hunter Valley region.

Bus driver, 58, is under police guard at a hospital for a mandatory assessment.

In a roundabout near the Hunter Expressway off ramp at Greta, just after 11.30 pm, ambulances, NSW Fire and Rescue, NSW Rural Fire Service, police, and Highway Patrol rushed to assist.

Guests were picked up from Wandin Valley Estate in Lovedale, around 17 minutes from where the crash occurred.

The bus was completely on its side in Today’s footage, and its front window was completely smashed. According to the program, the bus was a 2009 Volvo, which could carry 57 people, and was equipped with seatbelts.

Some passengers had their limbs severed in the crash, and others had sustained critical and life-threatening injuries.

Patients were transported to John Hunter Hospital, which is equipped with major trauma facilities, as well as Maitland Hospital, Mater Hospital, and the Royal Prince Alfred Hospital in Sydney.
