Taliban requesting international flights resume out of Kabul

The Taliban is urging international airlines to resume their flights in and out of Kabul, following the militant group’s takeover of Afghanistan in August

This all follows critical facilities at Kabul’s main international airport being severely damaged as a result of the chaotic evacuation process.

The Taliban now says that all of these technical and infrastructure issues have been resolved and it is safe to resume flights.

Sine the US- led evacuation process, only charter flights have been operating as well as a limited number of flights organised through Pakistan International Airlines.

The international community continue to wait and see whether or not the Taliban will actually let people come and go if and when international airlines resume their routes to Afghanistan.

The Taliban’s main spokesperson says “many Afghan citizens are currently stuck outside and unable to return to their homeland”.
