The Aussie Socceroos have failed to directly qualify for the World cup in Qatar, after suffering a 2-NIL loss to Japan

The Australian Socceroos chances of making the World Cup are slowly diminishing, as they suffered a woeful loss to Japan, 2-0.

Japan played a classy and structured game, with Japanese substitute Kaoru Mitoma striking twice in the final minutes, sending them straight through to their seventh straight World Cup.

Stadium Australia was painted with fans in yellow and green, who were visibly upset by the outcome.

The Socceroos will now have to battle through two sudden-death playoffs after finishing third in their Asian qualifying group.

They will face Asia’s other third-placed team in June, there is a highly chance this could be the United Arab Emirates.

IF they win this, they will then face South America’s fifth-placed team, BUT the Socceroos chances are looking quite slim.
