The parent company of Snapchat is taking “selfies” to all new heights

Snap Inc. – the company that owns and operates social media app Snapchat, has unveiled a flying camera what appears to look somewhat similar to a drone.

It’s called called “Pixy” – and is described by the company as a “free-flying sidekick” which can help people take selfies without a selfie stick.

The gadget is available in France and the United States, where the laws are more lenient around the use of drones than the United Kingdom.

It comes as several social media giants are stepping up their hardware and Augmented Reality offering.

The Pixy operates on its own, taking video and pics as it flies above the person using it

Those photos them wirelessly transfer and and are saved in the Snapchat app.

And when you’re done with your selfies at the end of the flight, the drone simply lands in the palm of your hand.
