SKYHIGH PRICES: Thanksgiving dinner cooked by inflation

Experts say it could be the most expensive Thanksgiving in history

As inflation rages on— experts say Thanksgiving 2022 could be the most expensive in American history.

This year, a feast for 10 people could be 20% more expensive than last year thanks to red-hot inflation.

According to a Farm Bureau survey, the price tag for a Thanksgiving meal itself cost $53.31 in 2021 but has jumped to $64.05 in 2022.

Shoppers in the U.S. say they’re really feeling the squeeze as costs keep going up but, President Joe Biden is still insisting there’s no need to panic.

“As we head into the holidays, this week we saw growth in prices in the business and in goods and services to come down as well, gas prices are down,” he said.

“But it’s going to take time to get inflation back to normal levels as we keep our job market strong so we can see setbacks along the way—I don’t doubt that but thus far we’re in good shape.”

However, families across the nation are paying significantly more this year for their holiday dinners.

When compared to last year, a sixteen-pound turkey costs $28.96 which is up 21%; a 14-ounce bag of stuffing mix is going for $3.88 which is up 69%; and two frozen pie crusts cost $3.68 which is up 26%.

Australia’s multimillion-dollar campaign to attract Hollywood productions to its shores appears to be paying off.

The allure of Australia lies not only in its picturesque locations but also in its competitive financial incentives.

The government offers generous rebates and tax breaks to international productions, making it an attractive proposition for filmmakers looking to maximise their budgets.

Despite the recent intake of Hollywood productions down under such as ‘The Fall Guy’ and ‘Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga’, Aussie independents are still finding the space to carve their own creative path.

Rob Fantozzi joined the program to discuss the latest in Hollywood, and showcased his own upcoming project – ‘Omerta‘. #featured

American home prices are rising at faster pace now than in the last 20-years.

A recent analysis reveals a jaw dropping surge in the cost of American homes.

Since the start of 2020, U.S. home prices have surged 47% easily outstripping the gains seen in recent decades.

On top of that, home price growth so far this decade is on the verge of surpassing all the growth seen in the 2000s.

Many experts believe this decade’s housing market frenzy was ignited by a perfect storm — the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic triggering an unprecedented rush among buyers.

Tom Hutchens, the Executive Vice President of Production at Angel Oak Mortgage Solutions joins Veronica Dudo to discuss.
