Russian forces are now in control of most of Severodonetsk and there are now reports all three bridges to the city have been destroyed

A pro-Russian separatist leader now says Ukrainian troops now have the choice to either surrender or die, noting “there is no other option”.

Severodonetsk is the epicentre of Russia’s bloody battle for the Donbas region and fighting has continued to intensify in the region.

Street fighting is continuing, with Russian and Ukrainian troops battling it out.

The governor of the Luhansk region, which includes the Donbas, says the situation remains difficult but confirms most of the city is now under Russian control.

It follows Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky indicating the fight for the strategic city may dictate the outcome of the war in the east of his nation.
