A small seaplane crashed into the East River in New York City on July 5, injuring two people onboard.The plane was transporting eight passengers when it made a “hard landing” near the seaplane terminal Skyport on East 23rd Street.
The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) identified the aircraft as a Kodiak 100 seaplane.
The crash occurred around noon, causing a wing strut to snap.
FDNY responders rescued all eight passengers, with two sustaining minor injuries but refusing medical assistance.
The flight reportedly originated from East Hampton Town on Long Island.
Among the passengers were Khloe Todd, 16, and her grandmother, Ada Todd, 75, who were celebrating a friend’s birthday.
Footage showed the plane upright in the water, being towed back to the dock.
According to FAA records, the seaplane was manufactured in 2025, though its owner remains undisclosed.
The FAA will conduct an investigation into the incident.
