Samsung chip production delay as truckers strike in South Korea

Samsung is experiencing chip production delays in China as a result of a truck strike in South Korea

The demonstration is blocking exports and costing the country over USD 1 billion in lost production and delivery disruptions.

The Korean company manufactures isopropyl alcohol used for cleaning chip wafers but its failure to deliver to China has stunted the output of Samsung’s Electronics Factory there.

Around 90 tonnes of materials have been held up.

The plant in the city of Xian produces NAND flash memory chips that are used in smartphones and other tech gadgets for data storage.

Meanwhile the trucker union has announced their strikes will continue and blames the transport ministry for being “neither willing to talk nor capable of resolving the current situation”.

Protestors are pushing for minimum pay guarantees as fuel prices skyrocket.
