Ukraine’s President has fronted the UN National Security Council, delivering yet another powerful speech as Putin’s war becomes more aggressive

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has delivered a powerful speech to the United Nations Security Council calling for accountability over Putin’s war.

Zelensky accused Russian troops of carrying out the most brutal and terrible war crimes since World War Two, following the distressing footage emerging from Bucha.

The president showed the UN delegates a video of mutilated bodies laying dead in a number of cities as his nation accuses Moscow of intentionally targeting innocent civilians.

The Security Council has failed to prevent or curtail Putin’s invasion of Ukraine, largely because Russia is a veto power.

Zelensky says the world is “dealing with a state that turns its veto into the right to cause death”

But Russia is continuing to deny it has been killing innocent Ukrainians with the nation’s UN ambassador dismissing accusations of abuse as “lies”.

The ambassador says not a single Ukrainian was harmed while Bucha was under Russian occupation.

Zelensky has questioned the purpose of the United Nations and the Security Council if it fails to prevent death and destruction in a member state.
