The Chinese city of Xi’an has locked down in response to a covid outbreak

Over 13 million people have been ordered to stay at home as the city recorded 143 infections within the past two weeks.

The new restrictions limit movement by only allowing one person per household to buy essential goods, every two days.

China has tackled covid by bringing its cases down to zero by using mass testing and frequent lockdowns in response to outbreaks.

The strict measures come just months before the country is set to host the 2022 Winter Olympics.

It is unknown when the restrictions will end.
