Investigations are continuing after a car ran through a crowd in Berlin, killing a teacher and injuring 14 school children

The school group was on a trip to the capital from the state of Hesse, with the 29-year-old driver arrested at the scene.

Authorities are yet to determine whether the incident was intentional or an accident.

It took place in one of Berlin’s busiest shopping areas in the city’s west at around 10:30 AM local time.

The woman who died was 51, identified as a teacher who was accompanying her students on a school excursion.

The driver is reportedly a dual German and Armenian citizen and lives in Germany’s capital city.

Witnesses describe seeing the vehicle veering into a crowd of people on the pavement near Berlin’s busy shopping avenue, before driving back on to the road and crashing into a shop window.
