NY mayor faces calls to reassure residents safety

Published

Following a recent shooting on New York’s subway, the city’s mayor is facing renewed calls to reassure cautious residents

48-year-old Daniel Enriquez was killed in an apparently random attack after being shot in the chest by a gunman.

He was riding the Q train from his home in Brooklyn, into Manhattan to have brunch.

Police say the attack was unprovoked, as the suspect remains on the run, fleeing the scene wearing a mask and dark blue hoodie.

Calls are now growing for NYC Mayor Eric Adams to act on subway safety and end unnecessary deaths.

Speaking to the New York Post, the victim’s sister says every resident should be concerned they could be next.

There have been four people killed in the transit system this year – which is in-line with the same period in 2021.

Adams says he has a responsibility to ensure all residents are safe.
