Nvidia to double chip sales next year

Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang announced the company plans to double chip sales next year.This forecast reflects ongoing substantial growth, with Nvidia projecting a 70% increase in revenue to $673 billion for the fiscal year ending January 2028, spurring heightened analyst expectations.

Chip sales increase

Huang emphasized that the rise in demand for AI technology drives this anticipated growth.

Nvidia’s primary products include its data centre graphics processing units, or GPUs, such as the Blackwell and Rubin chips.

Last year, Huang noted Nvidia shipped 6 million Blackwell GPUs over four quarters.

The company also manufactures various semiconductors beyond GPUs, including CPUs, switch chips, and specific chips for devices like the Nintendo Switch 2 gaming console.

Huang participated in discussions on AI safety alongside representatives from Google DeepMind, OpenAI, and Anthropic in the U.K.

The urgency surrounding AI safety escalates as researchers caution that advanced AI systems may surpass human control.

Huang remarked on the need for ongoing engineering for products deemed unsafe in the current landscape.
