An uncontrolled Chinese booster rocket is expected to crash land back on earth, with the when whereabouts unknown

A Chinese rocket is expected to fall back to Earth, but no one really knows when or where.

The booster that is due to crash land on Earth was part of China’s most powerful ever rocket, the 23-tonne Long March.

China chose not to guide the booster back through our atmosphere, one of many choices made by China that the space industry has deemed irresponsible.

Whilst uncontrolled reentry of space debris isn’t uncommon, it’s the large size of this particular rocket that’s raised concerns.

Scientists say the booster will significantly burn up on return to our planet.

They also say the odds of that landing being on a populated area are low.

However, in 2020 pieces of another Long March rocket fell on the Ivory Coast, damaging several buildings.
