Indian police have arrested nine people in relation to the deadly bridge collapse, which killed at least 134 people

Many children were among the dead after CCTV footage showed people shaking a suspension bridge from side to side moments before it fell into the water.

The cables holding the Morbi bridge gave way and people were seen falling around 10 feet into the water below.

Local officials had reportedly not told authorities that the bridge was going to re-open last week.

The bridge underwent series of repairs on the structure. However, no certificate had reportedly been provided to prove it was fit for public use.

The company in charge of maintaining the bridge, Oreva is yet to comment on the tragedy.

India’s Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit the site on Tuesday. The bridge is located in the same state the leader is from himself.

“In this hour of grief, the government is with the bereaved families in every manner,” he said.

Around 400 people were believed to be on or around bridge when it collapsed. Local authorities said up to 20 boys aged between 20 and 25 were shaking the bridge at the time of its collapse.
