Foreign Secretary Liz Truss has announced she is running to be the next leader of the Tory Party, as the race for Britain’s next PM heats up

Truss is the 10th candidate to officially declare her intention, following the lead of colleagues including Rishi Sunak, Sajid Javid and Jeremy Hunt.

The Foreign Secretary is the longest continuously serving member of cabinet, after holding positions under three seperate administrations.

As the key contenders throw their hats in the ring, tax is high on the agenda.

Hunt is denying tax cuts would further spike inflation, while crowd favourite Sunak is suggesting any changes to Britain’s tax laws will need to wait.

Speaking to the BBC, Javid says tax cutting isn’t ‘risk free’, but there is a much greater risk in not having tax cuts at all.
