Court filings reveal that federal and state agencies ordered the removal of around 1,400 posts between March 2024 and June 2025.
Most removal notices originated from the Indian Cybercrime Coordination Centre, which has accused X of hosting illegal content, including misinformation and material deemed offensive.
X’s legal battle highlights the challenges of balancing free speech with regulatory demands in one of its largest user markets.
