Russian troops have reportedly agreed to pause attacks on Mariupol and allow innocent civilians to flee

344 people have been evacuated from Mariupol and surrounding areas after weeks of uncertainty.

President Zelensky says he is grateful to those who have made the operation successful.

Meanwhile, new details have emerged that the US is helping Ukrainians target and kill Russian Generals.

Ukrainian officials have confirmed about 12 Generals have been killed on the front line. But it is unclear how many of these came as a result of American intelligence.

As the war drags into a third month, it’s hard to see any winners at the moment.

Alan Beam from the Australia Institute agrees but says one country is far worse off.

Beam describes the support coming from America as measured and traditional, but a recent support package is very significant.

It comes as the EU says Russia must pay a heavy price as it proposes to ban all Russian oil by the end of 2022.

But the measures risk a veto from at least two countries who are heavily reliant on Russian oil.
