Liz Cheney is ousted from her own Republican party after a Donald Trump-backed candidate won Wyoming’s primary election

Cheney faced a tremendous battle to win re-election, being one of just two Republicans to sit on the January 6 Select committee and one of 10 who voted to impeach Trump.

Wyoming is a highly-conservative state, and there is still widespread support for the former President.

But the fight doesn’t appear to be over for Cheney, with speculation she may run for office in 2024.

She is calling on Americans to unite across party lines to keep Trump from winning the White House again.

Speaking on NBC’s Today, she says her beloved Republican party is ‘in very bad shape’.
