There are reports Liberal Supreme Court Justice Stephen Breyer will announce his intention to retire

The retirement is expected late 2022, with the judge choosing to step down at the end of the court’s current term in June.

Breyer has been a Supreme Court justice for more than 27 years.

The retirement will of course allow President Joe Biden to nominate a Liberal successor.

Democrats have been pressuring Breyer to retire for quite some time now… with the 83-year-old being the oldest judge on the bench.

While his replacement will not shift the court’s current 6-3 split between conservative and liberal justices. Breyer’s successor could serve for decades.

US President Joe Biden ‘stands by’ his promise to nominate Black woman to Supreme Court

The president has declined to comment on the matter until a formal decision has been made by Justice Breyer.
