Labor leads Coalition in final poll for 2025 election, but uncertain outcomes hint at possible hung parliament.

In Short

Labour leads the Coalition in the final AFR poll, with a possible slim majority predicted for the upcoming federal election.

Prime Minister Albanese’s popularity is rising, while Dutton campaigns to secure more seats despite challenges.

The final AFR/Freshwater Strategy poll indicates a tight race in the upcoming federal election, with Labor leading the Coalition at 51.5 per cent to 48.5 per cent in two-party preferred terms.

Labor’s primary vote is at 33 per cent, while the Coalition leads with 37 per cent. Independents are forecasted to receive 18 per cent of the vote, and the Greens 12 per cent.

The poll shows a slight swing of 0.6 per cent toward Labor compared to the 2022 election. If this trend continues, Labor might achieve a slim majority of 76 seats, though simulations predict they will likely secure 74 seats against the Coalition’s 64.

Other polls

Other polling, such as the final Redbridge survey, positions Labor even further ahead at 53-47. Prime Minister Anthony Albanese has increased his lead as preferred prime minister, while Peter Dutton’s rating has declined.

Dutton is visiting 28 key electorates this week, aiming to gain the additional 21 seats needed for victory. He remains optimistic about their campaign efforts despite challenges.

Amidst the ongoing election campaign, Dutton defended his leadership and stressed his commitment to convey the Coalition’s message. As the election approaches, the sentiment remains that Labor is making strides, but the outcome is uncertain, with polls suggesting a potential hung parliament.

The election will take place on Saturday.
