Kyle Sandilands agrees to $15m settlement with ARN after dismissal over controversial on-air comments

In Short:

– The settlement resolves part of the $165 million claims against ARN, paving the way for Henderson’s case.
Kyle Sandilands has reached a $15 million settlement with the Australian Radio Network (ARN) following his dismissal. The payment will be made over three years, with ARN expected to announce the deal on the stock exchange soon.

Settlement reached

Prior to this settlement, both Sandilands and Jackie “O” Henderson had filed lawsuits against ARN for unfair dismissal.

The settlement resolves half of the $165 million claims against ARN, paving the way for a similar agreement for Henderson.

Sandilands and Henderson were among the highest-paid radio personalities in Australia, with their show generating significant income.

The controversy began with Sandilands’ on-air criticism of Henderson regarding her focus on astrology during a broadcast.

Henderson took leave after the incident and eventually indicated she would no longer work with Sandilands.

ARN subsequently terminated Henderson’s contract, citing Sandilands’ alleged misconduct.

Sandilands accused ARN of unfairly terminating his contract and filed a lawsuit.

Legal documents highlighted the provocative nature of the “Kyle and Jackie O Show.”

Sandilands’ previous contract included multiple lucrative terms, leading to a significant payout for ARN.

Despite the settlement, ARN still faces an ongoing $80 million claim related to Henderson’s dismissal.

Henderson is seeking $82 million in compensation with her case moving through the courts.
