The anti-war song recounts Ukraine’s strength fighting against the Russian invasion and pleads for global support for the country.

The band known as Beton sings “Kyiv calling to the whole world, come out of neutrality, you boys and girls, cause Kyiv is rising, we live by resistance”.

The artists also sing about Russia’s use of propaganda to lie to its citizens… singing “And you know what Moscow said? Well, none of it was true”.

Russia invaded Ukraine late last month, so far killing hundreds of people and triggering the largest European refugee crisis in years.

More than 3 million refugees have fled Ukraine with half of these being children.

Neighbouring countries including Romania, Moldova and Poland have taken the brunt with millions more internally displaced within Ukraine.

The original song written by The Clash referenced World War 2 when it was released in 1979.

The cover song was posted to Free Ukraine’s YouTube channel on the weekend with the video showing the band members broken up with footage of the war.

Beton says they are aiming to raise money in support of Ukraine through the song.
