Kansas residents have voted to reject changes to the state’s constitution which would see abortion rights abolished

It’s a major win for pro-abortion activists, and marks America’s first statewide referendum on the contentious issue since the Roe v. Wade decision.

A conservative state, the Kansas ballot has drawn national attention as an indication of whether abortion rights will motivate voters in the upcoming midterm elections.

The failure of the constitutional amendment will prevent Kansas Republicans from passing severe abortion restrictions.
