Seven-time Formula One driver Lewis Hamilton has opened up about his personal struggles in an Instagram post

Hamilton says he has long “struggled mentally and emotionally” and has endured “a tough year already with everything that is happening” in the world.

The F1 star also offered support and hope to his millions of followers, adding “it’s ok to feel the way you do just know that you are not alone and that we are gonna get through this”.

Hamilton was just shy of taking out the Formula One title last year by Max Verstappen, and has started 2022 with a third place finish in Bahrain, while finishing 10th recently in Saudi Arabia.

The 37-year-old continues to have the most race wins in F1 history and is in fifth place in driver standings ahead of Australia’s Grand Prix.

In 2020, Hamilton also opened up about his mental health battles saying “your vulnerable side doesn’t make you weak, I like to think of it as a chance to become stronger.”
