These will be the first students to return since the start of the pandemic, reviving the university sector
International students will finally begin to return to Sydney, Australia… as the state government begins to revive its lucrative international education sector.
On December 6… a flight carrying 250 students from 15 countries, including Canada, China, Indonesia, Singapore, South Korea and Vietnam will touch down.
Arriving students must be fully vaccinated against Covid-19… but they will not be required to quarantine.
Following this initial arrival, a second flight will arrive on Dec 24 and then subsequent flights will touchdown every two weeks from then.
The trial will mark a much-needed turning point for Australia’s international education sector… which was decimated when borders were closed and students returned home during the height of the pandemic.
In a statement, New South Wales Premier Dominic Perrottet says the students “don’t just make a significant contribution to our economy, but international students play a role in our culture and contribute to our community and lifestyle”.
The states of Victoria, Queensland and South Australia are also in the process of allowing students to return at some stage in December.
