As Covid cases continue to soar in India, authorities will extend Delhi’s lockdown and restrictions for another week

India’s lockdown comes as a major blow for businesses, with restaurants and shopping centres remaining closed. All non-essential workers will still be required to work from home.

New Delhi’s chief Minister says the stricter the lockdown, the faster his city will be able to control the virus.

It comes as India’s largest carmaker, MAR-UTI Suzuki says it will also extend its factory-wide shut down for another week.

India’s third wave

This comes after India recorded its worse day of coronavirus infections, with a total of 414,433 new infections and almost 4,000 deaths.

India has now hit 21 million cases overall and is now a nation in crisis.

The nation is facing oxygen shortages and a completely overwhelmed healthcare system.
