100 civilians are reportedly heading back to Ukrainian-held territory, released from the Azovstal steel plant

One of the commanders says many people are injured and “still wounded at the plant as well”.

Captain Sviatoslav Palamar called for proper medical treatment and nutrition for those that remain at the plant.

Those stuck inside are facing food and water shortages, trying to stretch out what they have “for as long as possible”.

Despite all of this, the commander says they “do not intend to surrender” and hope Ukrainian officials and foreign leaders “do everything possible to evacuate from Mariupol”.

The steel plant has been the target of heavy Russian artillery and aerial bombardments over the past week.
