Recently an Africa focused company Jumia teamed up with the San Francisco based Zipline to deliver household items to secluded parts of Ghana
Zipline will provide its on demand delivery system and Jumia will use its distribution network for the goal to be achieved.
Consumers in these areas will be able to purchase electronics, cosmetics and fashion items, among other products.
Drone deliveries especially became important as a medium to deliver medical supplies and vaccines during the covid 19 pandemic, as many countries looked for alternate ways to reach people in difficult areas.
Many companies like Amazon, UPS and Fed EX are now looking to expand their use of drone deliveries for a larger range of products.
Drone deliveries do show potential to become of significant use and some have even referred to them as “the future of logistics.”
But will they be sustainable?
